Federal-Mogul's CrushShield is a material that surrounds and protects electrical cables, keeping the electrical system of electric and hybrid-electric vehicles isolated from the rest of the vehicle. Incorporating a rugged, multilayer fabric with a substrate design that together absorbs and disperses energy, the material’s construction helps automakers meet the new regulations without requiring electrical component or wiring redesign. According to the company, CrushShield is one of the first cable products in the market to meet the requirements of new U.S. federal vehicle safety regulations and is already in production for a hybrid-electric vehicle.
