IAV’s DrivePac EV80 electric drive unit includes an electric motor and transmission in a compact size with minimum weight. The design's integrated solution considers vehicle requirements for hill-climbing ability, acceleration performance, efficiency, and top vehicle speed. The unit can be integrated in A, B, and C segment vehicles. By using a two-speed transmission, optimal operation is realized via high electric machine efficiency, thereby improving driveability and reducing energy consumption. The unit is suited for through-the-road hybrids, range-extended electric vehicles, and fuel-cell-powered vehicles. The oil-cooled asynchronous motor features an optimized air gap, slip frequency, current density, tooth width, and magnetic circuit that minimize electric motor losses. Continuous output power is 50 kW and maximum output is 80 kW at a maximum speed of 8000 rpm. The motor provides 150 N·m of continuous torque with a peak of 300 N·m.
