Solutia’s Saflex S series advanced infrared absorbing interlayer product family is designed to produce automotive glass laminates with enhanced solar IR-absorbing properties compared to laminates made with heat-absorbing glass and standard polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer. Available in nonacoustic and acoustic formulations, the S series refers to the nonacoustic formulation, whereas Saflex Q series contains both the acoustic and solar-absorbing functionality. The Saflex S series is suitable for use on all automotive glazing locations, including windshield, side windows, and sun/moon roofs. Benefits to OEMs and end users include heat reduction and cabin comfort, improved fuel efficiency, CO2 reduction, increased electric-vehicle range, and signal enabling.
