Ohio State's ‘Bullet’ EV has a short range, but could surpass 400 mph

The Ohio State University student team revealed the vehicle it will use to try to break its own world land speed record—307 mph—with an over 400-mph mark. The 38-ft-long (11.6-m) vehicle contains 2000 A123 pouch cells and runs a four-wheel-drive system with two motors design-rated at 3000 hp (2238 kW). Read full story

GKN develops electric flywheel hybrid system for buses

The core of GKN’s Gyrodrive flywheel hybrid system was developed by Williams Hybrid Power for a kinetic energy recovery system designed for the Williams F1 team. GKN acquired the technology in April 2014 and has developed it for both endurance racing and heavy commercial vehicle use. Read full story
GM's production 2017 Bolt EV to offer +200-mi range at $30K price

To be built at Orion Assembly in Michigan, the new EV is aiming to be first to combine +200-mi range with the relatively low $30,000 MSRP. Its battery technologies will be a "progression" of those announced for the Gen-2 Volt. Read full story
